I had PRK laser surgery, which means the procedure was done entirely by the laser itself. It was painless and took maybe 2-3 minutes. It cost $3,200 in 1996. The doctor did no cutting of the eye. An old procedure is called RK, where the improvement is done completely through the reshaping of the eye with the scalpel. The most popular procedure is LASIK. It is a combination of laser and cutting. At least, that's how I understand it.

Yow! I don't blame you. After what you went through, I'd want the best too. But everything is okay now?
As for the long term effects, I don't know. It's been 6 years for me, and I've had zero problems.

WHAT TYPE OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE?
by minimus inwhat type of personality do you really have?
do you have the same personality in person that you do on-line?
some of us here seem to be rather private and others appear to be very good at communication.

Wouldn't it be great to have a script writer for your life, so that you can always have the perfect witty response to any and all situations?

Welcome to the club! Isn't it great!? I had it done in 1996 and I've had zero problems with it. The only thing I've experienced is my eyes are a little dry first thing in the morning, but it's no big deal. I got my first pair of glasses when I was 8, and I've hated wearing glasses/contact lenses ever since. Isn't it great to wake up in the middle of the night and be able to see the clock?
Congrats!!!!!!!!

The Meeting Clothes I Left Behind
by dobby inthis past weekend my husband and son and i went to stay with my jw in-laws.. it was a pleasant weekend.
they were a little subdued this weekend, i think the assembly got to them and they seemed less open to discussing our feelings about the wt.. a very interesting thing happened as we packed to go on sunday morning.
i was in the guest room folding clothes into our suitcase when my father-in-law tapped on the door.

Bill Bowen V The Anti Matter God(Cosmic rays also)
by ISP inreading through yk's thread i found the commercial sense of this even more interesting....on one side we have the mild-mannered bill bowen.......and on the other we have yk's god....... .
actually, apostate dubs, of all people, should understand what ridicule is all about.
there is no aspect of the faith of jehovah's witnesses that has not been the target of your derision and ridicule.

No No. You've got it all wrong. Cosmic rays are what gave the Fantastic Four their powers.

The High Price of Watchtower Pretension
by metatron ini think we have entered an era where the future of the watchtower is threatened by the.
cost of its own pretensions.
declaring that everyone else is going to die at armageddon.

Colour me dubious Metatron. You make very valid points, and they're probably accurate (you usually are). Change is needed, but I don't see it happening. Denial is a powerful thing and most Witnesses (from the top down) are in extreme denial. I believe most at the top are already at a point of disbelieving what they teach. But, like the Soviets, they can still rattle their sabres and get the peasants in an uproar. But it seems to me that if enough lawsuits on the issue of pedophilia come to fruitition, THEN we might see what you describe. WTS has deep pockets, but if the Catholic Church has paid out hundreds of millions of dollars to settle these suits and is still a going concern, then the same with WTS.

Simon, I need to know ..........
by Sentinel insimon,.
perhaps i have been the one to misunderstand the prime objective of your forum.
in the beginning i went to the orginal posts from you to get an idea of what you had in mind, and it did seem like i was in a good place and that i understood the rules and such.

I know how you feel. I'm fairly new to this whole discussion board process myself. Personally I find this forum not only fascinating, but a window of sanity in the face of all that Pravda-like WTS rhetoric. When I stopped going to meetings, I felt I was the only one that had been treated that way. Now, 14 years later, I've found out I'm not and it feels liberating. Since I work at night, I'm not able to get out with people much, so this forum is such a gift to me. It lets me interact with people on a variety of topics.
Simon seems to me to be a reasonable person with reasonable expectations on what is discussed and the way we are treated. As for some of the nonsense that's been going on lately, for me I think it's like anything else in this life. You take what you need and leave the rest.

you know's answer:"the way i understand it, it is a conscience matter.
" when i asked whether he was serious, he replied:"i am serious".when i asked him for further clarification, he suddenly vanished from the conversation.

WT Attacks Being 'Easygoing' October,1,02 WT
by ISP inshould you be easygoing?
most people would probably feel that it is a compliment to be thought of as an easygoing person, one with a relaxed, placid, tolerant nature.
however, there is another side to easygoingness.

So much for being meek and mild tempered.
